look at me! I have feelings too long, spoilery and slanderous towards Nolans for twitter:
westworld s1 )

I'm interested to see where s2 goes!
meelie: (atlantis - letters from pegasus)
The long and amazing songvid I was speaking of yesterday in regards to Person Of Interest, spoilery for the whole show but really a wonderful memorial for a great show, with enormous detail, watch all the way to the end:

[Person of Interest] The Promise by Se7en/LOBO 7 "To my best love❤Person of Interest❤":

I will have Sunday vid show playlist up in next day or so, great to see everyone!!

(posting this in personal dw and sinpoz dw comm!)

hey hey, I'm going to stop x-posting after this post so go look for me at dreamwidth not that I post that much.

hey meelie maybe you should write stuff down so you remember what you think about different games?? GOOD IDEA

okay! yesterday played 'The Alchemists' )
Basically like a really intense Cluedo? box said 2hrs to play, but I think since it was our first go it took 4.5hrs?

Would play again but would probably make myself some formula cheat pieces to work out what cancels out what etc as I had trouble with that part.

we then played a round of Bohnanza which I must admit I came out of gate hard, but it was 10pm meelie playing at that point oh no.

and then a game of codenames: pictures - I think I am more a fan of the word one? I find the image one way more subjective and really depends more on how the other player on your team thinks. Happy to play either but would like to try word one again to see if I really do prefer it.

lazy day today! need to do some laundry and currently catching up on s29 amazing race

just saw that ethrosdemon has passed away.

I've had her on my friendslist for years and years - I was never close to her, but I, a known lurker and lack of commenter, posted comments on many of her fic and enjoyed them a lot, and discussed BSG theories as well, back in The Day.

I hope she is remembered however she would have wanted.
meelie: (atlantis - letters from pegasus)
so i was just checking my vid show playlist from last year and uh, did I never post my vid show links?

15min into the big short, and it is worse than the book so far, which I thought would be tough - the Margot Robbie scene :/

Also I think they just replaced a dead kid with an adult dead brother
And the frantic camera style is giving me a headache...and the Ryan Gosling to camera talking, ugh.

I really like Moneyball the book and thought the movie was terrible, maybe just time for another re-read of Moneyball

Really strange to me, since I love stuff about financial collapse and could care less about baseball, but the passion for stats and the feeling for the subject matter really comes through in Moneyball
The big short just feels like contempt for the system, the people and even the people who 'best' the system while presented as outsider anti heroes they are not sympathetic at all
meelie: (Default)
And hah, I'm already booked to see it a third time this week :))
spoilers gonna wear a jacket buddy )
meelie: (dino comics - this is awesome)
because if i cant post for new star wars what is even the point??

As promised! and within a reasonable time frame!

As per my vague preamble before my vid show, the theme for Saturday was retrospective with an emphasis on the transition of vidding around 2002-2004

I started with "Both Sides Now" by Kandy Fong

and then straight into the show:

1 - "Wouldn't It Be Nice?" by Laura Shapiro. 2001. Multi-fandom.

2 - "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" by alasen. 2002-ish said alasen when I asked her, posted in her lj 2003. Due South.

3 - "Polka Party" by Waldo. 2001. Multi-fandom.

4 - "Sorry" by sineala. 2002. X-Files Mulder/Krycek

5 - "In Your Eyes" by Lynn. 2001. Stargate SG1 Jack/Daniel (access is a bit tricky, follow the site instructions to get a password)

6 - "Opportunities" by Carol S, Killa and WOAD Society.2002. Highlander constructed reality/crime AU.
Uh, I can't find this online, I've had my .mov file of this vid since 2004, here is the fanfare page? SORRY!

7 - "Repeat After Me" by f1renze and sweetestdrain. 2006. due South, Queer As Folk (US) and Xena: Warrior Princess

8 - "The Mountain" by Melina and astolat. 2004. Lord Of The Rings.

9 - "Snakes on a Plane" by Dualbunny. 2007. Harry Potter.

10 - "This Is How It Works" by lim. 2006. Stargate Atlantis. Vid of Synecdochic's 'Freedom's Just Another Word for Nothing Left to Lose'
The fanfare page for this vid is worth a read, as was shouted after the vidshow, don't read the fic unless you like crying!

11 - "Bohemian Like You" by PR Zed. 2005. Multi-fandom. (another password protected site but also available on the circuit archive here)

12 - "Anything For Love" by astolat and Speranza. 2012. I would class this as fannish meta ;)

Last night I went with [personal profile] alasen to Thrilling Adventure Hour at the Enmore theatre as part of Sydney Comedy Festival and it was GREAT!

I had such a great time, the only thing i would change is that the smoke machine they were running disagreed with me and I ended up coughing through a lot of the show :(

They performed Sparks Nevada "Bonus Onus", Buccatino Business, Moonshine Holler, Beyond Belief (I forget the title, something about bed and breakfasts), 2 Patriot cigarettes ads (one with a businessman getting threatened by his lungs to buy Patriot brand and the other with Marc Evan Jackson as a nerd and Mark Gagliardi as a bully) and closed with the workjuice closing theme.

Molly Quinn was adorable as "Danielle Steele" a robot outlaw looking to join a gang. Marc Evan Jackson continues to be my favourite; i could listen to him talk all day. Mark Gagliardi used a lot of physical comedy in his performance, especially as the Egg Baron in the Moonshine Holler, and as Croach the tracker in disguise he puffed himself up. Paul F. Tompkins is a gift.

There were a couple of sound cues that were missed and mistakes with the script but it was enjoyable watching the cast work their way out of problems.

I bought a copy of the concert dvd and 2 posters - they sold out of the beyond belief one that I wanted as I got to the front of the merch queue but I got the Australia/NZ tour poster and my second choice Beyond Belief 'EC' comic book style cover poster.

I am really glad I went and now regret that I don't live near LA so I can go to Largo for TAH shows (and for live eps of "how did this get made")

Some excellent cos-players in the crowd and getting into an enthusiastic discussion about film and tv in the (unnecessary!) line before they let us in made the wait go faster.

::x-posted to get together community on lj!::

Hey Guys! I really did mean to post this yesterday but uhhhh my laptop cable died and so I had to wait till I had a chance to buy a new one :)

1 - "Anything For Love" by astolat and Speranza. Multifandom - Fannish meta about how friendship can lead you into different fandoms.

2 - "This is Everything" by morrigan291 - Star Trek (multiple) - Worth reading the uploader notes.

3 - "Gun" by starlightandstatic. Pacific Rim - I feel like this vid is the flip side to Sound the Bells.

4 - "Hurt" by thatfangirl. Batman Beyond - Summary: "You could have it all." Spoilers for Return of the Joker.

5 - "The Sower" by Chaila. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I miss this show!

6 - "Machine" by Yunuen. Iron Man. "I'm hooked into, hooked into machine."

7 - "Orange Crush" by gwyn. Captain America movies. Time to serve your conscience.

meelie: (dino comics - total eclipse)
I just posted links to all the vids I showed this year to the sinpozium lj community here, meant to crosspost and didn't.

I should probably link to this on tumblr or twitter! mmmmmaybe later.
meelie: (Default)

cap 2 lego movie boring life stuff! )
meelie: (dino comics-mad at a fictional character)
okay yes posting is hard okay, twitter and tumblr excuses etc

but! post for cider review! important business!

last night! tried 2 new ciders

Rekorderlig Wild Berries Cider and Kopparberg Winter Fruits

I had one mouthful of the Kopparberg Winter Fruits and couldn't drink anymore of it, thanks the the blackberry 'flavour' it has a hideous liquorice medicine flavour. Colour is the only nice thing about this drink it looks like a tasty apple blackcurrant drink but tastes awful. Would never ever ever buy again.

the Rekorderlig Wild Berries was lovely, and everything I hoped that the Kopparberg was going to be. light, tasty, very more-ish. More of a fruity sparkling drink than a cider, sneaks up on you and is delicious. would drink again.

of course, I only bought the Kopparberg because there was no Rekorderlig winter cider at the Dan Murphy's I was at. Winter Cider foreverrrrrrr. When it comes back I am buying a case.

I have a raspberry Kopparberg to try but the winter fruits has really put me off.
