sci-fi sunday
Aug. 28th, 2005 04:04 pmhmm. yay Ba'al? It was all a bit x-filey to me(hello jaffa deep throat) and I found my attention wandering at times, but I liked the bit at the beginning where the running jaffa suddenly gets killed by a car. But with the Prometheus in orbit around earth I had to wonder if amateur astronomers get regular visits from the air force telling them that they didn't see anything. I suppose they can handwave "Asgard technology masks it" or whatever, but still, kinda annoying. Also, did we know that they could beam away such a large object as a building? Overall a bit meh, but a meh I want to see what happens with. I also want to know what Ba'al's human name is. Mr Ball? B.A All? Atlantis on the other hand...
Loved it. Sure, my Rodney bias is showing, but I enjoyed the ep and I'm starting to really like Dex, esp his little chat with Teyla about when they are supposed to follow Sheppards' orders. Love. Loved the head thwap Sheppard gave McKay. Loved the way Rodney perked up when they mentioned food at the tavern. I actually liked the story too, interesting to see more of the wraith condition, and was anyone else thinking about "Owl Eyes" by Saleri when Beckett was talking about the bugs combined with human DNA? And I feel sorry for Beckett because he's going to spend countless hours trying to figure out how the serum worked because Old Guy couldn't admit that his daughter had been feeding the whole time.
Dude, Battlestar is so cool. I actually really enjoyed the Baltar/Six scenes this week, mainly cause she was fucking with his head so successfully. And the way she changed into sweats and a ponytail, looking remarkably like Starbuck I might add, was excellent. I love the Chief; "Topography is for pansies anyway" hee! best line of the ep. I worry about you Helo, I worry about you a lot. You are cute but don't trust Sharon! Adama continues to both inspire awe and fear in me, which is his job I suppose. At the end, when he made everyone clap? All I could think of is that he would be the gym teacher from hell.

See, I actually thought she was doing a deliberate Starbuck impersonation at that point. Not just because of her clothes and hair, but also her speech mannerisms and body language were eerily similar, and I say that with all the certainty of obsession. If it was deliberate, then it was incredibly well done, and if it wasn't then she's been spending way too much time with Katee. *g*

Yes! Bwah. I also (predictably) liked "I think that was the lobby".
Helo is indeed cute, but tragically stupid. And I thought the clapping was lame.

Date: 2005-08-28 09:25 am (UTC)I thought it might have been on purpose, as Baltar had said something about Starbuck(being the mother of the magic cylon baby?) but you're right it was well done.
The lobby line was good! and why the hell did Billy need to go along with Team Adama? I keep thinking he's a cylon now. speaking of Billy have you seen Billy's shirts of Doom?
And the clapping was totally lame.

Date: 2005-08-28 09:41 am (UTC)Yes, I figured that was why she was doing it - sarcastic wish-fulfillment.
and why the hell did Billy need to go along with Team Adama?
I don't know! Especially after Daddy Adama made such a big deal about how he was the one who could connect to Roslin. Pah.
speaking of Billy have you seen Billy's shirts of Doom?
Hee! No, but that is excellent. I did just find this rather unsettling little comparison, though.

Date: 2005-08-28 03:08 pm (UTC)Oh yes, she was like a second Starbuck, even talking a little bit like her (or maybe that was just me).
Sheppard is still not over that Wraith bug thing ;-).

Date: 2005-08-28 04:29 pm (UTC)I really like the character they're developing--he's so obviously like, 16 at heart, with the violent rage, petulance, black and white view of the world and the insecurity about orders.
