sci-fi sunday part 2
Jul. 31st, 2005 12:56 pmOh poor McKay, your humiliation is amusing and horrible at the same time. I would have preferred less running and screaming though. And what is with the dismissing of radiation in sga? It's like if it doesn't kill you right away it must be okay. Poor Ford. Poor crazy Ford, who wants to save the day, and also kill people who try to stop him. I thought Rainbow did very well with the flipping back and forth from psycho! to friendly happy-go-lucky Ford of yore. It was creepy and cool. I'm not sure how I feel about knew cast guy, Ronan, or whatever his name is, he seems pretty neat, but he is a stoic, show no pain warrior type and last-of-his people blah di blah. Reserving judgement. Also, he doesn't move his upper lip when he talks and mutters and that drives me crazy. I'll like him better when he learns to enunciate. His fight with Ford was pretty well done, but I was wondering if Rainbow got in any revenge blows in the fight for other guy putting him out of a job.
I wonder if Ronan has the Ancient gene and that's why the Wraith didn't/couldn't feed on him? Have we seen anyone with the gene get suckered? Hmm.
Caldwell vs Sheppard, let the colonel fight begin! Oh, the fun of people calling Sheppard to task for his lackadaisical attitude towards the rules, and yet, because Shep is the hero that automatically makes Caldwell the bad guy even though what he's saying makes sense. But because he says it confronting way we are comfortable with John's choice to disregard a valid point. Which is made clear when when Ford is picked up by the Wraith. It's all good and well to have faith in Ford, and Ford probably thinks he has a plan, but Ford is a whackjob now(sorry Ford, but you are) and I don't see his plans or ability to not give up intel to the Wraith as a thing to have faith in.
It was sort of a setting up episode, with not a big point to be made, and compared to the 'omg new threat!' of sg1 9x03, 'Runner' sort of pales in comparison. I really hope Ford doesn't just fade away(If I wanted to throw predictions around I would say he would be back for the season final, back as a threat or been made wraith-a-fied, kinda Locutus of Borg style, but then I would most likely be wrong) but I don't see anything happening about him for awhile.
I wonder what the theme of this season will be? there's the threat of the Wraith, sure, but the overwhelming urgency of finding a zpm has faded so what will be the driving force of the sga teams? Early season sg1 looking for weapons and allies against the Gou'ld type stuff? or something else? I wonder if they will be tying in any of the evil ascended stuff that will be happening in sg1. Hmm.
Did that new Major have a name?
oh, and I see

hnix, an icon combining two things which go together like two going together things, McKay and MST3K.

Date: 2005-07-31 11:49 am (UTC)The McKay/Ford scenes were so good. I wanted more of that, and yay for having Ford feeling betrayed by the people who were supposed to be helping him and kept looking at him with fear.
The Caldwell/Sheppard standoff was good. I really liked it. Sheppard *is* a bad leader, he doesn't think beyond the immediacy of his actions. And, yes, thanks to you the Wraith have Ford. The Wraith will also know that either: a) some of the expedition team survived, or b) Atlantis survived. Either way, there's an 8th chevron control crystal out there waiting for them.
SG1 was goooooood. The Or-i [?] guys are creepy. And Jack and Daniel at the end and Mitchell and Teal'c and Vala. And yes. I would have liked some Sam though.
