stockings, lies and comic geekiness
Jul. 3rd, 2003 08:29 pmMan, I hate the stockings I am wearing today. All of my stockings manage to develop holes in awkward places and then drift south, especially when I'm walking. Better than cold legs I suppose, but still! Stupid work clothes! I need to buy more pants or something. ::hitches up stockings::
Continuing my relationship of lies with coffeeshops who require names, today I told them my name was Fred. Last week it was Regina. I'm trying to think up what name I should give next time as up till now it's been off the cuff lies and sadly I came up with lame fake names(apologies to all the Freds and Reginas out there;)
So lately I've been feeling my lack of comic book-ness rather keenly. I was a huge comic collector for years but the last couple I've been all, eh, about it. Recently read "How To Read Superhero Comics And Why" by Geoff Klock, which put me back in a comic mood, despite it's awful, awful title. It's a rather interesting(and slightly wanky at times) examination and analysis of comic book superheroes from the golden, silver, and modern age. He has some interesting theories(once again, mostly wank) but his examination of more recent 'revisionary' comic book heroes and titles made me curious. So tonight I went comic shopping and got a couple of trade paperbacks; Warren Ellis' "Planetary" and Alan Moores' "Top 10". I don't think I'm quite ready for "The Authority" yet based on what I've heard, has anyone read it? Opinions please. Picked up some Harley Quinn back issues(I triplemegaheart Harley), and the three first issues of a marvel series called "Runaways" just cause I liked the cover art. Pretty.
