hunger games thoughts

going to see the movie and since I pretty much inhaled the books I want to get some thoughts down.
Like Katniss herself, I have a lot of trouble understanding why people love her. I do like that the books emphasise that most people like and love Katniss for what she represents and we do get the flashes of why she is extraordinary and even get a list of her spontaneous actions that people connected with but I just feel really bad for the people who actually know her and love her day to day. I am including her mother and both her love interests in that list.
I didn't like that Peeta didn't get a voice after he returns to the district. Poor brainwashed Peeta! I am not sure how I felt about the epilogue it was a little alternate ending to terminator 2 for my liking, but at least it wasn't harry potter epilogue awful.
Okay, going into the books blind(I stayed as spoiler free as possible, but one person had told me that the love triangle gets resolved by one of them turning 'evil') I started the first book convinced that Peeta was going to turn on Katniss and that he was playing his own cutthroat game. But he wasn't! and at the end I was still not sold on him, but when he realised that Katniss was playing up the love story for the cameras....ouch. like totally.
(aside: I am super curious to see how the movie is going to handle what is happening back in district 12 during the movie - in the book as it is first person POV we have to wait till book 2 to hear Gale's reaction to her actions during the Game. I also want to know how they are going to convey that Katniss' emotions are not 100% genuine - we are told through the book by her thoughts because she cannot say anything(except on a few occasions) due to the cameras, but in the movie we won't have that so how will they convey her deception?)
Book 2 is where Peeta started to shine, and I switched my allegiance to him. Mainly because Gale was being a tool? and the book was very good at emphasising the bond between the 2 victors. End of book 2, again, ouch ouch ouch.
Book 3: the demonisation of Gale! the brainwashing of Peeta! Katniss pretty much a hot mess the whole time! Trust No One! Even though Katniss was never really technically anyones girlfriend/lover/wife I am pretty sure she would have to get title of worst one ever. I didn't like that she pretty much wrote Peeta off when they got him back damaged but I do like that she acknowledges that to herself and there are some really good criticisms of her in the book. (I liked the conversation between Peeta and Gale about her).
also, Finnick :( :(
