meelie: (vasquez rocks!)
Last night I added the Jenny Crusie blog feed syndication thingy to my flist. Because, yay, Jenny Crusie. I was also feeling like reading some Crusie(despite the fact that i am in the middle of rereading all the Pratchett Watch books, yay Vimes!) but not like rereading the ones I have. I am watching on ebay a copy of 'Sizzle' which is apparently on of her first books and according to one review on amazon.com. the book she want to forget she wrote, but while I was ebaying and amazoning I realised that I am probably unwilling to pay the prices people want for old Crusie category romances. Such as "The Cinderella Deal" the cheapest of which second hand through amazon is $32.15 US. Shyeah, says meelie, I think not.

So today I had to walk to R to get a fluorescent round lightbulb thingy for my bedroom. It blew out, like 3 weeks ago, but I've been busy and I had a reading light, so I didn't get round to it till now. Got my lightbulb round killing thing at Big W, then popped into the Go-Lo which despite being all crappy cheap stuff, has a super-sekrit book section which usually has decent insanely cheap scifi. I kid you not, I got 3 Vorkosigan books there for $2 each. So I pop in, not expecting much, there was a Bradbury I didn't want, a Diane Duane that book three of starhammer something-or-other, and quite a lot of Loveswept romances, huh, I thought to myself, wouldn't it be excellent if you found a Crusie?. And then I did. Oh My God! I said really loudly, then I looked around to see if anyone had noticed as I clutched the book, 'Trust Me on This', to my chest. Then I kept looking, oh a Fayrene Preston, I don't hate her and then, oh, then gentle reader, I found a copy of "The Cinderella Deal" and I felt myself get lightheaded with the urge to start squeeing loudly and embarrassingly. So then I rushed to the checkout paid and called [livejournal.com profile] alasen because I had to tell someone straight away!

$1.50 each! They were $1.50 each! It must be my lucky day!!

Of course later something behind the shopping plaza caught on fire, and two fire engines raced by, so possibly my good luck resulted in extremely bad luck elsewhere? But the place didn't burn down, I know this because I had to go back in and buy shoes for my mother.
