recs recs recs! I'm feeling in a reccing mood. Non pop-slashy edition. Some old, some new. All good in my opinion.
'Tin Men' by punk. Sports Night. With the Dan and the Casey and the cuteness which is apparently Dan in shorts and flip flops.
'My First Stargate Story' by
prillalar. Cracks my shit up. Totally.
"On Chulak," Teal'c said, "there was a warrior who continued to practice though his wrist was strained. He sought no medical attention, but denied that he was injured in any way. In time, he lost the arm."
"You see?" Jack took Daniel by the shoulders and shook him, trying to get him to wake up and see sense. "You could lose your arm!"
"In fact, Colonel O'Neill, the warrior's arm was cut off by an opponent in battle," Teal'c said, but Jack didn't really pay much attention. Very funny.
Highlander! My favourite fandom of which I haven't watched barely any actual episodes! Or maybe that's Sports Night, but moving on! Highlander!
'Five Things That Never Happened To Methos' by Rain Mercutio.
Interesting, fun, sad, heretical, maybe a little blasphemical but still gooood.
blasphemical's a word. really.Buffy. I don't read much buffy any more, to my shame, but what I do read now is what I wouldn't have back then. If that makes sense. Most likely it doesn't.
Anyway, Spike/Xander. A pairing I don't usually like, but which Anna S. makes me love, much as the Sandys make me love lambs.
'A Week of Wrong' is Spike/Xander with humour, sexiness and dialogue I can believe in;
"Spike! Pay attention!" Xander held his arms and shook him a little, feeling like Lloyd Dobler. "You're incredibly high and you must chill! If you don't, I'm going to tie you to a tree and let the squirrels run up and down your body with their tiny little feet."
Spike whipped his head to one side, scanning the treeline with high paranoia, then looked back at him very seriously and said, "Don't leave me for the squirrels, Xander."
"Are you going to be good?"
From Spike's absorbed frown this appeared to be no simple question but a conundrum that only years of study would solve.
"Just say yes," Xander advised. While you're in a S/X frame of mind read her most excellent
'Sidelines' as well.
And now for something completely different. Well, not
completely different. Just a
little different.
'Past Duties' by Shalott. ST:TNG. I'm just gonna steal her summary;
Late in life, Picard has an uninvited guest, and tell you that it's spiffy. Which it is. Spiffy.
Smallville. Homicide.
'Futura' by Hope. Luthor and Kent, homicide detectives. Names in red, ill-fitting suits and lots and lots of coffee. True to the spirit of H:LotS, yet still a Smallville story. Most excellent.
