Is it 8pm yet?
Mar. 2nd, 2003 04:26 pmGod. Am doing the 12hr Sunday shift at work today. Dullsville baby. The phone has rung, like, 4 times. Once the lady who usually does this shift, twice people accidentally hitting a button on their mobiles and one confused lady who wanted to know what the visiting hours for the QE2 were. Needless to say; Wrong number.
4 hours to go. So far have;
* Read Jan issue of SFX I bought yesterday
* finished reading "The Dark Wing" by Walter H. Hunt, which I rather liked at the beginning and the middle but really didn't like the last 1/4 of the book. eh.
* watched dvd of "Donnie Darko" which I hired yesterday in anticipation of day of boredom. Was good. I liked it. If I had to guess I would say that![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
alasen would not like it. Take that as you will.
* read all my friends page. Then went and read all ofmerryish's friends page that I'd missed over the weekend. Was skip=240 or something so that kept me occupied for awhile.
* have been typing this for the last 7 minutes or so, so that took up some time.
things I can do for the next 4hrs;
* Start reading the lighthouse keeper book "A Sorcerer's Treason" by Sarah Zettel that alasen got from the library. I call it the lighthouse keeper book in relation to an argument she and I had over this. I said the main character was a lighthouse keeper, her position was that the character was a fishermans daughter. So it went:
al: Fishermans Daughter!
me: Lighthouse Keeper!
al: FISHermans Daughter!
me: LIGHTHOUSE Keeper!
...and so on for about half an hour till we went into a bookstore and realised we were both right. Lighthouse keeper in first book, Fisherman's Daughter in the second book in the trilogy. We had both assumed the chick was the same in both books. Nope.
* play with my baby iBook that came into work with me today. Have fic I could re-read. and I should back up all my stuff.
* I could watch the other dvd I got, but when I took it out of my bag I noticed it was not the one I meant to hire. I meant to hire "Impostor", 'cause Gary Sinise donchaknow, instead I something called "Blow Dry" which has Josh Harnett in it and apperntly Alan Rickman. huh.iibnf have you seen this? It seems to be about hairdressers.
* or finally I could go make microwave popcorn and look at popslash clips. mmmm. popcorn.
In other news at dinner last night alasen made a Justin joke:
::to a friend who had been away from the table for awhile::
"You were gone so long I wrote a song about it!!"
I cracked up. No-one else really got it. but still! "Gone" joke! Also at then same table later in the night the tongs provided to turn meat on the table grills were mis-used in various ways(not dirty ways! geez!) most notably in a version of 'Good Tong, Bad Tong' where a piece of cooking meat was interrogated cop style and then later 'Tong-lander', the least said of which the better.
and now this entry is really long but I choose not to cut! Going to make popcorn now.
