Met up with [livejournal.com profile] alasen on Saturday arvo and did a bit of shopping in town. Went to Kings comics as everythings on sale 'cause they're moving at the end of the month. They wouldn't say where they're moving to. Weird. alasen was put out as, for the umpteenth time they had no Phantom back issues. Which resulted in the following;

Shop Guy:Can I help you?
alasen:No. No, you can't.
SG:Fine then. No help for you.
Me:::sniggering into the magazine back issues I'm looking through::

Guess you really had to be there to hear the tones. Ended up buying a couple of Harley Quinn back issues, 3 old Wizard magazines and a SFX with a Smallville article that was half price. Then to Galaxy where I ended up getting 'Coraline' by Neil Gaiman and vol 1 and 3 of the Nightrunner books by Lynn Flewelling, because alasen told me she wouldn't lend me hers any more. cow. At the counter bought 2 packets of SG1 series 4 cards on impulse and opened them on the way to Abbeys. Score! 1 Gou'ld technology insert and a Maybourne costume card! Although I am greatly disturbed by having touched something which once touched Maybourne. Ew.

Threw a minor hissy fit in Abbey's in regards to them not having the new Mary Russell, then went and had some lunch. Borders where I was good and only got one cd, 'Touch' by Sarah McLachlan for $20. Got the middle book of the nightrunner series in Angus and Robertson, then home again, home again, while listening to alasens new iPod. Which is spiffy. Dropped stuff of at my place and grabbed my iBook, scammed a lift and went to al's for a few hours.

Watched the last few eps of Xena's last season that we hadn't seen. Yay Ephiny! I always liked her. And the Caesar ep the name of which escapes me, was good except for the end which felt a bit rushed. Used our lovely expensive analog-to-digital box to capture on my iBook the bit from 'I coulda been a defendant' with RayK making his 'hurry-hurry' arm movements that's in the main credits for due South in order to make myself a gif(Sent the in progress gif to al the other night - she said looked like he was dancing and that it was too dark. Damn. Shall attempt to fix that later).

Borrowed a whole heap'o stuff before I escaped into the night; the 'Dragonlinks' book she recc'd a while back, lots of Diana Wynne Jones, 2 cds(yay batman beyond soundtrack!), and the new Jayne Ann Krentz 'Smoke in Mirrors' which was pretty good but I kept having Sentinel-type thoughts. Didn't help that I'd just finished "Unsleeping" and still had that on the brain and this book was set in a university town in Washington state. Where there had been a murder 30 years ago in the house which the person who had endowed the university lived. Very similar to one of the plot points in "Unsleeping". So I'm reading the JAK this morning and they(the characters that is) are talking about the murder and I'm sitting there expecting them to start talking about slightly spoilery 'Unsleeping' comment ) Then I realised that was in the fic and not this book.

Reading "A Tale Of Time City" by DWJ now. It's been ages since I've read it and I'm enjoying rediscovering it.
