Had to go to lunch mid rant
Natalie Portman was spiffy as usual; I love Padme but I couldn't wanting to hit her and say "What are you? Blind? Look at him! He's gonna be evil! And you knew him when he was prepubescent!". Some of the costuming choices were a bit strange(the blue hippy moomoo thing she was wearing when Anakin came back from killing sandpeople springs to mind)but overall of the spiff. I especially liked her senatorial outfit with the triangle hairbun.
The clones were cool, and it was amusing to play spot-the-Aussie.
Another good thing was the limited screen time for Jar Jar, and he served a purpose. I loved the scene where Palpatine, having engineered it so that Amidala is out of the way just looks at the room of gathered senator and goes "Oh, if only Senator Amidala was here. She would vote for this I'm sure!" It was soooo evil! The manipulation and planning involved! They should have just dropped the love theme entirely and concentrated on the machinations behind republic politics.
So, yeah, Episode II good. Bring on Ep III!
