I saw battleship last night.

this review sums it up best, but see, I like explosions. My problem was I was enjoying it in a ridiculous GI Joe kind of way, there were some good one liners! and Skarsgård made up for the fact that when Taylor Friday Night Lights was wearing a hat and sunglasses I literally couldn't tell it was him. But then! they did something so unbelievable(in a movie full of stupidly unbelievable things that my enjoyment stopped and my pain began.

the actual tipping point for me was when their last ship was blown up SO THEY FIRED UP THE USS MISSOURI. DUDE DUDE NO. AND THEN! and then a whole heap of old retired Navy guys show up, like, PERCHED all over the boat, like in the masts or whatever the battleship equivalent is. Like creepy birds! It was AWFUL. and TERRIFYING.


and then at the end, people in the audience CLAPPED. reader, I shouted at them.("why would you applaud that? WHY" is what I shouted) AND SO THEY CLAPPED MORE.

because it is a floating museum at pearl harbour! - it is a WWII battleship and decommissioned in 1992- the movie had like a 10 min montage where they made it work. Including finding working live ORDNANCE from somewhere. and then they fought aliens with it.

I love that in a movie that's about the US Navy fighting aliens, it's the use of a decommissioned battleship that bothers you the most.

I can suspend my disbelief only to a point! IT'S A FREAKING MUSEUM! NONE OF THE PARTS WORK ANYMORE! I HAVE A PHOTO OF MYSELF ON THE BRIDGE PRETENDING TO USE THE PHONES AND ANOTHER ONE WHERE I WAS PRETENDING TO SHOOT THE GUNS! (those photos are pretty sweet jsyk)
