I needed something to watch while eating breakfast(the videos on rage had moved on from nirvana and pearl jam to bands I did not know and batman brave and the bold hadn't started yet) so I chucked on ep1 of survivor all stars(my ultimate comfort season!) and it is really interesting to see how not-stupidly young they all are! compared to recent seasons where you have people who are Old(and cranky!) and people who are Young(and dumb!) and no real middle ground. Remember when survivor casts had at least one or two vaguely smart people who weren't 12 *or* completely over the hill?

OMG YOUNG HANTZ I HATE YOU SO MUCH. I said this elsewhere(twitter?) but seriously, men who blame their attraction to other women on the women themselves? there is no lee-way in my hatred for you. Had a discussion with non-fen work-friend who shares my survivor addicton, and she was so much more lenient, but she hadn't sen 23x02, but I made my opinion from ep 1 the moment he called mikaylah a 'Delilah' but who knows! (an aside - I ended up explaining the whole samson and delilah thing to work friend - it was funny, I don't think of it as a bible story and I don't really consider myself a christian, but as a non-christian my friend had no idea what was meant by referencing someone as a delilah)

the person who impressed me in ep 2 was Albert? I think his name is Albert?(has he had an aside to the camera?) clearly he is not making any waves or being a camera hog but when he spoke at tribal he actually was coherent, sensible and not-crazy! of course, compared to christine of the rotating eyeballs, c-c-c-c-coach(LOYALTY AND INTEGRITY AND IDIOCY) and self-hatin' hantz that wouldn't be difficult.

I am watching this season, too, and will happily discuss it with you, haha. I totally agree with what you said about young Hantz-- he's so out of line with blaming his issues on Mikaylah! I know the editing is done to make him look creepier than he probably does when he watches her, but SERIOUSLY. it's not HER fault he's clearly got issues up the wazoo.

Christine, ugh. disliked her the instant she opened her mouth in the first episode. maybe she'll get eaten by fire ants? ONE CAN ONLY HOPE.

Could that editing be ANY creepier! But it's better than just having him state all that crap which could give the impression that maybe she was doing something to 'tempt' him? I loved how they juxtaposed his comments about how she was flaunting herself or whatever while she was clearly doing normal stuff! and not interacting with him!

I didn't hate Christine at first! but then when she and stacey got their crazy on at tribal, yikes!
I am still unsure about the whole redemption island aspect of the duel - it seems useless? whoever returns comes back to a tribe which is pretty much going to be united against them.

did you watch last season? they had redemption island on that, too-- and it proved to be quite an interesting twist in the game. they left it a while to bring the person back into the game, and yeah, there was some ill-feeling, but it was interesting to see how it all played out. plus the extra challenges between the two players on the island are always cool, too. :)
