seeing the decemberists last week was FRICKIN' AWESOME.

But regret! I have it! I saw them at the metro and avoided the festival of sydney shows - googling on wednesday last week I discovered that they played "The Mariners Revenge Song" at the tuesday night gig :(

other thing I keep forgetting to tell you! How annoyed I was at the girl at sundance who worked at a coffee shop that banksy enhanced the wall of - she said something along the lines of liking it because it was of a man admiring a flower and taking a photo of it - the image is of a person so intent on getting the photo that they have ripped the flower out of the ground, essentially killing it - it was kinda obvious that it was a pap/media criticism but that might just be my art essay bias showing. You decide.

It was so amazing! \o/ My best friend, the crazy nut, flew down to Melbourne for the long weekend and saw them again. She's got a few videos up on YouTube.

I was waiting and waiting and hoping they would come out and do a second encore with The Mariner (like they did when we saw them last year) but it was not to be. :(

God, If I hadn't had to work, I would have loved to go down and have seen Colin Meloy's solo show :(

But I wasn't expecting Mariners Revenge and I was stoked that they played the island/come and see! before the show I was telling sinden that I would love for them to play it, but I thought they wouldn't becuase who plays a 12min+ song at a live show? THE DECEMBERISTS THATS WHO!

I LOVE that they played the Island - I may have squealed out loud at the first notes. :D

I think the next night they played The Tain and Crane Wife 1&2 AND The Mariner, all the huge long pieces. Crazy band is crazy (and awesome!)

I was at the Metro gig too! And I had the chance to go to the Barracks show and desperately wanted to, but was in dire need of sleep. Stupid body.

That performance of The Rake's Song is right up there amongst my favourite live moments. I knew it would be great, but it was magnificent. :)

God, the Rakes song was awesome! Like 3 people I knew were at the metro show, but the crowd was so packed I didn't see any of them!
